Reflections on the Soup

I really liked the taste of the soup. As I ate it, though, the consistency was kind of weird. As in if I took too big of bites (like an actual spoonful), it kind of made me want to gag. It also really made me want to eat it with crackers. I didn't have any raw crackers, so I ate it with green peppers, but I had too much soup. I also felt like I needed to be more filled. I wonder also if the soup would have been better had I left the tomatoes and avocados chunky, so the consistency wasn't as pureed. I will have to try something again.

Soup

Last night after eating my yummy raw pasta for lunch, oily enchiladas made me feel yucky. So today I started out with a smoothie, and I had read about adding carrots and lettuce, so I tried it out. The lettuce left a weird taste in it, which I imagine is because I did not buy organic, and I did not rinse the lettuce. So rinse your lettuce! Otherwise, it was pretty tasty. I think I really liked the carrot in there. (Hard to tell with other stuff in there as well, but it added a nice taste.

For lunch, I made a raw soup. I used a recipe I found, but changed it a little. It called for more basil and for lemon juice, but I put very little basil in, and then I put balsamic vinegar in instead. It is highly unattractive, as it is orange-ish brown, but it is sooo yummy.

I just put everything in the blender and tried to blend it up. I would recommend chopping the carrots into fairly small pieces beforehand, as it took me a while to get it all blended up.

Also ironically, for the least attractive so far, I finally figured a way to get pictures til I find my camera--my cameraphone! So here's the picture:

So I put in 2 carrots, 1 tomato, 1 avocado, 1 green onion, dash of basil, 1/2 tsp. of cumin, and maybe 3-5 tbs. of the vinegar. Quite tasty!

The Raw Experiment

I am not going raw, otherwise I would have entitled this blog "Going Raw". I am simply trying some raw stuff out, and incorporating it into my lifestyle. I have tried two raw recipes so far, and they are delicious! I thought I should put down somewhere what I am doing, so I can remember, and decided to do it in a blog form so that others could benefit.

Last night I made raw tacos. They were really yummy. (Eventually I will start putting pictures of stuff up on here, but I don't know where my camera is at present because of moving, so you will miss out on seeing these wonderful meals.)

For the raw tacos, I blended up tomatoes, cilantro, green onions, salt, garlic powder, and lime juice in my chopper to make salsa. Then I coursely chopped cashews mixed with taco seasoning in the chopper. I put that on a piece of lettuce and scooped out some avoacdo on the top. It was very tasty, and so fresh tasting. Raw is yummy.

Today I made zucchini and marinara. For the marinara, I put one tomato, a small slice of green pepper, oregano, baisl, salt, one bay leaf, about a tsp. of oil oil, and a few sun-dried tomatoes in the chopper and chopped it up really fine. Then I used a potato peeler on the zucchini to get really thin strips out of it. I put those in a bowl, covered them with the sauce, and ate! It was very delicious. I would highly recommend both of these meals.
